Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
A hoard of 1952-53 Parkies continues to yield "wierd" complete sets, with our consignor informing that he bought considerable amounts of packs back in the day at the same store. Although numerous cards feature EX-MT and NM characteristics, the edges/borders strike the beholder. Numerous cards have uneven cuts, with obvious not-straight edges, or diamond cuts. It's as though they were amateurishly cut from an uncut sheet, or maybe someone was "asleep at the switch" during production. Various sizes are present; cards oftentimes measure short or narrow or over-sized. Everything is crease-free here except for one common, 12-McNeil and #105-Hassard, with the key cards all with an uneven edge/border or two. Please see our website for more details and photos.
Our photos should give you a good idea of the miscut cards, with the Rocket definitely narrow, Howe, Horton RC and Armstrong RC with not-straight edges and the Sawchuk with the least obvious flaws among the star cards. Nice crisp, mostly unhandled cardboard awaits, but for the fourth time/set, we'd say buyer beware as far as high grade grading hopes go.
