Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017

New York's Berk Ross Company paid tribute to 72 top athletes with two-card panels back in 1951 and the four hockey players included in the set are offered here in attractive crease-free condition. Montreal Canadiens' goaltending great Bill Durnan's first appearance on a small trading card highlights, with Bill Quackenbush appearing alongside Durnan. Detroit's Sid Abel is matched up with Oklahoma tackle Wade Walker, while another Red Wing, Black Jack Stewart, is paired with SMU quarterback Doak Walker. Centering is oftentimes bad with this issue but good here. Upon closer inspection, we spot a tiny corner crease in the example featuring Durnan and a minuscule corner missing on the Walker. Four flattened cardboard boxes/wrappers are present and are slightly different, revealing that 18 card "series" were offered for just 10 cents apiece, with the boxes including "Series 1", "Series 2" on so on. And so on that note, we'll wish you good luck with this nifty ensemble.
