Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
Far from a rookie in 1951-52, Maurice Richard would score 27 goals that season in 48 games, as a number of games were missed due to an injury. While kids flocked to the corner store - or "depanneur" in Quebec - that season on the hunt for his first card, the Rocket would amazingly score the winning goal in the playoffs to the send the Habs to the Stanley Cup finals despite being concussed earlier in the game, leading to the iconic photo of Richard and Bruins' netminder Sugar Jim Henry shaking hands - one of the most famous images in hockey history. This 1951-52 Parkhurst Rocket rookie has been graded 7 NM by PSA. One of the premier hockey cards in the entire hobby, according to the PSA population report, this is one of 37 at this grade, with 46 graded higher out of 680 cards submitted. We should also note a few minor scratches on the reverse of the PSA holder.
