From arguably the most celebrated team in baseball history, we have World Series programs that all feature the New York Yankees. Six programs are included, with a pair for the 1941 Series, a pair for 1943 and a pair for 1947. The ’41 World Series witnessed the sixth “Subway Series” played, with the Yankees defeating the Brooklyn Dodgers in 5. The Series in 1943 would see a rematch from the previous year, with the Bronx Bombers taking on the St. Louis Cardinals. Only allowing 9 runs in the five games played, the Cards were handily defeated, with NY winning their tenth World Series title in 21 years. The ’47 Series would see the matchup from 1941, with the Bums in Brooklyn this time going the distance, losing to the Yankees in a closely contested seven games. The 1947 Series is also historically noteworthy, as it included the first African-American player with Jackie Robinson. Also included is artwork for a 1947 Series program cover.
All measuring roughly 9" x 12", the condition for the offered World Series programs is as follows. 1) 1941 program, scored for the clinching Game 5. With a large tear along the spine, the cover does remain attached, but barely. With toning, creases and paper loss to the back cover, the program remains in fairly low grade, but presentable. The interior remains clean with just a single bit of tape residue. 2) 1941 program, scored for Game 1. The spine has been reattached with tape that is now brittle, along with creases, edge tears, a pen notation and toning to the cover. The interior also exhibits creasing, toning and general wear. 3) 1943 program issued for Sportsman’s Park, unscored. With a front cover bend in the lower right that continues through a number of pages, the program is in otherwise beautiful condition, with just normal handling wear and some toning to the interior. 4) 1943 program issued for Yankee Stadium, scored for Game 2. With toning, edge wear/tears and small creases, the cover does remain attached, with the center spread line-up loose but present. The interior also exhibits toning, light creasing and handling wear. 5) 1947 program issued for Yankee Stadium, scored for Game 2. The cover exhibits heavy creasing and edge wear/tears, along with wear to the spine. The center spread line-up is detached but present, with general wear, toning and some creasing to the interior. 6) 1947 program issued for Ebbets Field, unscored. The cover exhibits toning, handling wear and edge tears, along with a large tear along the spine. The center spread line-up is detached but present, with general wear, toning and some creasing to the interior.
