Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Heavily collected and absolutely ideal for display due to both their diminutive size and wonderfully detailed logos, we have a vintage puck collection of 5, with a few harder-to-find examples that usually frustrate collectors. Included, we have an Art Ross example – the first used in the NHL – from the 1942-50 time frame, followed by an example with a smaller circular logo with “Andover” designation, from 1955-63. Next, we have an Art Ross practice puck used from 1958-1962, along with a second practice puck that would have seen action in either the NHL or AHL from 1962-64. Rounding out the lot, we have an Art Ross/Converse puck used as a practice example in the AHL during the mid-1970s, 1974-76.
The 1942-50 NHL game puck has light wear with a few minor slices along with an edge chip, with the rubberized logo clean. The circular logo example from 1955-63 features an off-center logo with toning and a few dark marks, with light wear to the puck including a few minor cuts. Both the 1962-64 and 1974-76 practice pucks exhibit light wear with fairly clean logos, while the 1958-62 practice puck shows heavier wear from use, with discolouration in spots, especially along the side.
