Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
Interesting obscure and oddball hockey cards/items are featured here, with little cards issued in New Brunswick to honor the 1932-33 Allan Cup champion Moncton Hawks among the highlights. They've been graded by SGC and include examples of Bert Connolly (EX+ 5.5), Jimmy Foster (EX 5), Aubrey Webster (EX 5) and Bill Miller (VG/EX 4). A 1956 Adventure Gum card depicting Gordie Howe and Chuck Rayner is in an early PSA holder labeled EX 5, with "H. Stuart/C. Taylor" curiously on the label (they're named on the back). A second similar card is not graded and is VG+. One of two hockey cards from a 1949-50 Lowney's/Cracker Jack multi-sport set of 48 is present, with #6 describing hockey "to-day" and in crease-free EX condition. With terrific color/graphics is a (larger) European production showcasing Canadian and Swiss teams competing at the 1928 Olympics in St. Moritz. It has survived in appealing crease-free VG-EX condition. Completing are 14 Diamond Match matchbook covers from the 1930s; one silver (Couture) and five tan Black Hawks (Brydson, Gottselig, Livinsky, March and Wiebe) are joined by eight with no strikers present. One silver (Mantha) and seven tan, including Lynn Patrick, Earl Seibert and Armand Mondou, highlight the (bobtailed) lineup. A nifty array of vintage goodies to consider.
