Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
The legend of George Hainsworth was well established by the time he finally appeared on official rookie cards in 1933-34…at age 38! Appearing in Paulin’s 1920s (regional) set during his Saskatoon days, the netminder had backstopped the Canadiens to back-to-back Stanley Cup titles (1929-30, ’30-31) and was well on his way to setting the career shutout record (86) when he was traded to the Maple Leafs just prior to the ’33-34 campaign. Scarce and desirable are Canadian Chewing Gum cards, with just five such Hainsworth cards graded higher than this EX 5 in the history of PSA. It’s a Pop 3, with 34 total submissions over the years. Appealing to several collector types, this scarcity will marvelously enhance your encapsulated pre-war card shrine.
To note are the light scuffs to the older PSA holder, along with a two-inch horizontal scratch, visible in the pad and (catching) glove area.
