Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
Four supporting cast members of the 1931-32 Stanley Cup champion Toronto Maple Leafs are featured here, with the superb artwork of cartoon artist Lou Skuce produced on odd-shaped coasters, with "Compliments of O'Keefe's Beverages" appearing towards the bottom of each. PSA population figures confirm the scarcity of the relics, with just 71 total ever submitted to the company in its history, with 16 different known to exist. Slabbed GOOD 2 here are #s 3-Alex Levinsky and 8-Harold Cotton, with the numbers mirroring the players' uniform numbers. An Andy Blair coaster (#5) is in a big holder labelled PR 1, while a touch of tape repair on the reverse of 18-Fred Robertson renders it "Authentic - Altered". The coasters are a hoot hold and check out while contemplating the first "Maple Leafs" and Conn Smythe team to capture Lord Stanley's precious trophy, following Toronto's Blueshirts (1914), Arenas (1918) and St. Pats (1922). Cheers to Toronto hockey history!
