Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
A mixed bag of antique items is presented featuring advertising, boxing and board games. Ranging from the 1860s to 1940s, 12 items are offered including an 1893 Doran's Science of Self-Defense boxing book (fragile covers with paper loss and tape to the spine), a circa 1860s mini engraving of boxer John Broughton (4" x 6 1/2", edge tears, paper loss upper left corner and tape on reverse), 1930s Sun Crest bottle-shaped thermometer (light to moderate wear, colours bright, displays very well), circa 1910 Henry George Cigars lithographed advertising poster (great colours, trimmed down to approx 15" x 20", set in vintage thin frame with wear and no glass), circa 1910 "Vaudeville at the Orpheum" original street car ad sign (22" x 26" and found in Winnipeg, this was originally mounted to the front of a Winnipeg street car, as the dimensions match other Orpheum signs used for this purpose seen in period pictures, there is heavy staining, with great period aesthetics), circa 1905 Spear's Blow Football board game (appears complete, wear to the box and lid, missing one apron), circa 1910 Card Houses game (many pieces intact, box lid missing the aprons), circa 1920s Copp Clark Ups & Downs board game (board only, moderate wear to the box), 1905 McWhirter & Ball female tennis player cardboard advertising fan (no handle, writing on back), framed circa 1910 "Pitch Em" board game cover (approx 17" x 20", wear to the box lid and frame), and 2 1940s Paulins Honey Graham Waffer and Chocolate Puffs street car advertising signs (11" x 28", these were also found in Winnipeg, and being a local company, would have been used in a 1940s Winnipeg street car).
